Behind DOV is Dovile Visockaite, she was born and raised in Lithuania. With her parents being jewellers, she grew up immersed in a world of fine craft and has been designing and making clothes since she was a teen. Years later Dovile would go on to incorporate jewellery in her tailored Menswear graduation collection in London at the Middlesex University.
Dovile has two BA degrees in fashion design and since her graduation she worked as a pattern cutter and clothes maker with high end fashion designers such as Nasir Mazhar, Martine Rose and Coded Cloth as well as on her own personal projects. Dovile is also teaching creative pattern cutting and 3D realisation at Southampton University Winchester School Of Arts BA Fashion and Westminster University MA Menswear Fashion.
Dovile had to slow down with work when she got pregnant with her first child and started making clothes for her daughter, who is her and inspiration and real life fitting model as well as tester of each style. This developed into a large collection of one off garments, and is how DOV was created. With birth of her second child she started thinking of how to sustain her business, her need to create and combine her freelance and lecturing jobs. That led to creating one off sustainable bags that has been a success. It’s a journey and it’s always evolving.
DOV is a sustainable slow fashion brand with emphasis on one off garments and accessories. Dovile uses sustainable fabrics, recycled fabrics, zero waste and upcycling techniques.
DOV is a resident artist at Neighbourhood Store and you can see her creations in-store and here
