Based in Leeds, Becky Mann is a full time freelance illustrator and printmaker. She works on a mixture of personal work and commissions which mainly focus on food, animals, and plants.
Becky studied Fine Art Printmaking at the University of Brighton and graduated with a 2:1 in 2012. “Being in Brighton was an invaluable experience for me, and it seems like a lifetime ago now that I was there when I look back,” describes the illustrator. A year or so after graduating, she decided to move back up north and took up work in a local care home.
She worked within the care sector for several years with the elderly and more recently, when she moved to Leeds, with adults with learning disabilities. During this time Becky learnt a great deal about herelf and others, and worked all through the pandemic. She took the plunge with her artistic practice and went full time with it in September 2022. “It’s all still relatively new to me and I am still learning as I go along,” says Becky.
Currently, Becky is experimenting with a mixture of different things within her practice. She has recently worked on a few different commissions for independent magazines, as well as keeping her personal work going; creating new prints and greeting cards to sell on her online shop, at markets, and at independent gift shops.
